World Day for Safety & Health at Work
4/28/2020 is World Day for Safety & Health at Work:
This Day promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. The focus is to raise awareness internationally on the problem and promote creating a safe and healthy culture to help reduce the number of work-related injuries and deaths.
Everyone is responsible to take the necessary steps to ensure that workers remain safe and away from harm. Governments are responsible for developing policies, programs, and inspection systems to enforce compliance with the occupational safety and health laws. Employers are responsible for ensuring that the work environment is healthy and safe. Workers are responsible to protect themselves and work safely while not endangering others.
This year, while in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, World Day for Safety and Health at Work will focus on addressing the outbreak of infectious diseases at work. The great challenge for governments, employers and workers worldwide when resuming normal activity is keeping safe and healthy at work while sustaining the rate of decline of the disease.
